HISTORY

1929

Creation of LAN "Línea Aérea Nacional de Chile" by Commander Arturo Merino Benítez.

1946

First international flight Santiago – Buenos Aires.

1956

First service to Lima.

1958

First service to Miami, USA.

1961

Creation of TAM – Taxi Aéreo Marília by five charter flight pilots.

1970

LAN launches service to Europe.

1975

Creation of TAM – Transportes Aéreos Regionais by Captain Rolim Adolfo Amaro.

1976

TAM begins service to Brazilian cities, especially in Mato Grosso and Sao Paulo.

1983

Incorporation of Línea Aérea Nacional – Chile Limitada through CORFO.

1985

LAN becomes a corporation.

1986

TAM acquires VOTEC – Brasil Central Linhas Aéreas –, a regional airline operating in northern and central Brazil.

1989

Privatization begins: The Government of Chile sells 51% of its stake to Chilean investors and Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS).

1990

Brasil Central is renamed TAM – Transportes Aéreos Meridionais.

1993

TAM launches TAM Fidelidade, the first frequent flyer program in Brazil.

1994

The privatization process concludes w the acquisition of 98.7% of the company's shares by its current controllers and other shareholders.

1996

TAM acquires the airline LAPSA from the Paraguayan Government and creates TAM Mercosur.
First service between Sao Paulo and Asuncion.

1997

LAN lists its shares on the New York Stock Exchange, thus becoming the first Latin American airline to trade its ADRs at this important trading place.

1998

Delivery of the first A330. The airline launches its first international flight from Sao Paulo to Miami.

1999

The company begins its expansion process: LAN Peru begins operations.

1999

The airline launches service to Europe through a codeshare agreement with Air France to serve Paris Charles de Gaulle airport.

2000

LAN joins ONEWORLD.

2001

LAN partners up with Iberia. Opening of the Cargo Terminal in Miami.

2001

Opening of the Technology Center and Service Academy in Sao Paulo.

2002

LAN partners up with Qantas and Lufthansa Cargo.

2003

The company's expansion continues: LAN Ecuador begins operations.

2004

New corporate image: LAN Airlines S.A.

2004

TAM begins service to Santiago. Launch of the new business class on flights to Paris and Miami.

2005

New milestone in LAN?s regional expansion plan: LAN Argentina begins operations.

2005

TAM S.A. lists its shares on BOVESPA./ New service to New York and Buenos Aires.

2006

Launch of the new Premium Business class.

2006

TAM lists its shares on the New York Stock Exchange. / New service to London, and flights to Zurich and Geneva through the codeshare agreement with Air France.

2007

Implementation of the Low Cost model in domestic markets. Capital increase of USD 320 million.

2007

Launch of the Milan and Cordoba routes. ANAC gives approval to begin service to Madrid and Frankfurt.

2008

The renewal of the short range fleet is complete, consisting of aircraft of the A320 family.

2008

The company receives its first Boeing 777-300ER.

2009

Cargo and passenger operations begin in Colombia and in Ecuador's domestic market, respectively.

2009

Launch of Multiplus Fidelidade. / Acquisition of Pantanal Linhas.

2010

Acquisition of Colombian airline Aires.

2010

TAM officially joins STAR ALLIANCE

2011

LAN and TAM sign the binding agreements that will lead to a merger of the two airlines.

2012

The merger of Lan and Tam gives birth to LATAM AIRLINES GROUP. / Placement of 2.9 million shares.

2013

Capital increase of USD 940.5 million. / LATAM Airlines Group selects oneworld as its global alliance.

2014

TAM joins the oneworld® alliance. Now, all passenger airlines of the LATAM Group participate in this global partnership.

2014

The LATAM Group developed a robust strategic plan for the next four years (2015-2018), in an effort to become one of the world's leading airline groups.

2015

The LATAM brand is officially rolled out, with new colors and a new logo.

2016

In May the new LATAM image begins its implementation.

2017

LATAM Cargo becomes the first airline in the Americas to receive the CEIIV Pharma certification bestowed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

2018

In addition to the sale of its last two B777F freighters to standardize and strengthen its B757F fleet, LATAM Cargo announced the gradual increase of its cargo capacity by incorporating four freighters to its current fleet of eight, thus reaching a total of 12 cargo aircraft by 2020
Implementation of CROAMIS begins, one of the most important and ambitious projects in the history of LATAM Cargo. CROAMIS will replace all cargo systems currently utilized by a single system that will cover of the functions of the business, from planning to collection.
